In this video I enjoy a fabulous dive under an active Oil Rig off of the Gulf of Mexico! The rig about 120 miles off the coast of Texas in the Gulf of Mexico and sits on the ocean floor in around 360 feet of water. We dived on and around the submerged upper superstructure in crystal clear waters, with thousands of fish - including sharks!

This trip was organized by the Central Houston Underwater Mariners (CHUM) Scuba Club and there were 13 of us on the boat.

We visited four different locations this trip, and I did 10 dives: West Flower Garden Bank (2 dives), the Oil Rig shown in this video identified as H.I. 379B, another reef East Flower Garden Bank (4 dives) and finally a third reef - Stetson (where I did 3 dives).

This dive is the third dive of the trip and of the first day. Dive time was 48 minutes to a maximum depth of 50ft. Water temperature at the surface was 79 °F, and at our maximum depth was 77 °F so I was wearing a trilaminate dry suit by Waterproof, under which I wore Waterproof's thin "Body X" undergarments, and I was very comfortable.

Recorded using both a GoPro 11 and a GoPro 10 camera.
